We were debating whether it was time to make a move or stay and improve. We ultimately settled on staying and improving and we were familiar with Oscar’s work through projects he had done with close friends of ours. Our project was a significant one; basically, gut the main floor and completely redo the kitchen, family room, powder room, and laundry room, with new flooring throughout the main floor and the upstairs.
Oscar and his team worked closely with us to ensure all our design ideas were discussed and integrated into the planning. As you can imagine, our ideas were a bit of a moving target, and Oscar was always patient and empathetic throughout the iterations. He was also flexible in the scheduling, allowing us to tackle the laundry room and powder room, then break for Christmas, then pick up the balance of the project after the holidays.
With a project of this size, and walls being opened, all the home improvement shows had taught us to expect surprises. One of those surprises was significant; a main beam that had been left unsupported on one end by the original builder. Oscar immediately consulted with an engineering firm, and they came up with a permanent and budget friendly fix. There were a few other in-wall surprises as well as disconnects with our appliance supplier, both in terms of delivery dates and specs on the appliances. Oscar always took these challenges on, presented them as “just part of the job” and came up with workable solutions. The result is we have our dream home, and it came in on time and on budget, despite plenty of surprises and disconnects that could easily have led to the project timeline being extended or for budget overruns.
My advice to anyone considering home renovations is you have to expect surprises and the best way to mitigate those surprises is to partner with a contractor that really wants to understand your needs and works hard to make sure the surprises don’t derail your plan. Oscar is that contractor.

It took me a long time to work up the courage to hire someone to renovate our ensuite bathroom, mostly because I didn’t know where to start.
Oscars Contracting Ltd. was referred to me by a friend, and the results – well, they were even more than we could have hoped for. We have THE most beautiful ensuite bathroom! It’s light, bright, and airy, and full of everything that was on our wish list. And even when we changed direction at one point on a tile choice, it was Oscar that told us we needed to be happy with the end result. He patiently walked us through the change process and was there for us from beginning to end. And he even found time while on site to put on a new deck for us!

As homeowners for over 40 years, we’ve had a full range of experiences with home improvement contractors; some good, some absolutely horrible. Whenever needing to find a new resource, it was always with the fear that we’d be taken advantage of, with too high prices and/or inferior quality work. From tracing mysterious water leaks that had damaged our walls and ceiling, to bathroom, kitchen, basement and laundry room projects, his work has been impeccable. The larger renovations have truly transformed the use of our home.
To give a few examples, we were especially impressed with the modernization of our upstairs bathrooms. turning our primary ensuite into a spa-like retreat with a rainfall walk-in shower, heated floors and towel racks, all new fixtures and lighting. In the second bathroom, he managed a full rebuild to include a double vanity, heated floors, new fixtures, lighting and a luxurious air jet tub. Most recently, he gutted and redesigned our main floor laundry room, brilliantly stacking our appliances to maximize floor space, and creatively turning a closet into more functional pantry drawers.
Oscar is a true professional and a pleasure to work with. He was incredibly accommodating with our change requests as projects progressed, and his sub-contractors provided excellent quality and responsiveness. His many years of experience come through in helping us make design decisions that are practical and avoid escalating costs. His team worked quickly and left the jobsite clean each night.
